| Ken Kroll, General Manager, retired from the electric utility industry, after 35 years to pursue a lifestyle as a full-time RVerwith his wife Jerri. Since then he has mastered the hospitality management business by working with the largest concessionaire in the National Park System at locations including the North Rim of the Grand Canyon; Flamingo Lodge & Marina in Everglades National Park; Furnace Creek Inn and Ranch; Stove Pipe Wells and Scotty’s Castle in Death Valley National Park; the Grand Canyon Railway; Zion National Park; and Bryce National Park. Since coming to Everglades City and the Ivey House two years ago, he’s spent most of his spare time either laying in bed watching the Three Stooges or hiking and exploring the beautiful wilderness trails of Big Cypress National Preserve. Sharon, Front Desk Manager, came to the Everglades via Crater Lake National Park in Oregon. After several years in grant accounting, Sharon has begun a new chapter in her life in the hospitality industry. She is enjoying the warm Florida weather as well as exploring and learning all about the Everglades. On occasion, she can be found exploring the wilds with Lisa, hoping to spot a rare Florida panther! Lisa, Marketing and PR Manager, grew up near West Palm Beach and has lived in extreme south Florida most of her life. Her passion is to protect Florida panthers in the wild through outreach, political advocacy and education. In her spare time, she can often be found watching manatees and alligators in her backyard, wandering the Florida Panther National Wildlife Refuge to monitor wildlife trail cameras, or paddling around the 10,000 Islands… basically, taking advantage of this amazing backyard we have here in the Western Everglades! David, Front Desk Clerk, has worked at six National Parks, including Glacier, Yellowstone, Grand Tetons, Shenandoah, Rocky Mountains, and Olympia as well as at Custer State Park in the Black Hills of South Dakota. This is his third season at the Ivey House and he enjoys the birds of South Florida and the opportunity to explore this beautiful and diverse ecosystem by kayak. It’s easy to spot David at the Ivey House on his days off, as he almost always visits our kitchen to fill his cooler with ice for a day out on the beautiful beaches of Naples! Jerri, Front Desk Clerk, retired from the electric utility industry after 18 years to pursue a lifestyle as full-time RVer with her husband Ken. She brings great analytical skills to the Ivey House from that industry, plus great experience in the hospitality business through working for the largest concessionaire in the National Park System. Like Ken, she has worked at the North Rim of the Grand Canyon; Flamingo Lodge & Marina in Everglades National Park; Furnace Creek Inn and Ranch; Stove Pipe Wells and Scotty’s Castle in Death Valley National Park; the Grand Canyon Railway; Zion National Park and Bryce National Park. Miss Jerri loves trouncing Ken in tennis and is always on the lookout for wonderful Carolina-style barbeque. Scott, Front Desk Clerk, is an intrepid world explorer who also has strong roots in Florida. He has traveled extensively through Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Asia, South America and Africa. His wry sense of humor and talent with "twisty gators" makes him one of the most entertaining members of our Ivey House staff! Luigi, Front Desk Clerk, is a native of Mexico who arrived at the Ivey House in the early summer of 2011. |
