See the Everglades up close and personal! The four hours my husband and I spent kayaking through the Everglades was absolutely breadth taking. Our guide was topnotch; he was informative, patient and gave us space to experience the quiet and grandeur of an amazing ecosystem.

We are novices in a kayak; so inexperience should not be a reason to pass by this adventure. Also, these are not Hollywood alligators; they do not attack your boat. Alligators by nature want to keep out of your way.

As you paddle through the mangrove tunnels you will experience the Everglades in a way not possible on an Air Boat. If you want to taste of the Everglades--this is how you should do it.

Our trip to the Florida everglades was wonderful and the kayak trip was the highlight event. Chris, our guide, was very knowledgeable not only about kayak skills but also about every question we had about the wildlife and the surroundings. He took us to places not many have had the chance to see. He lead us through the many tunnels of mangroves and then allowed us to guide ourselves through not only by being first but also going through alone. When you take this trip you will understand just how exciting this was. Wear the proper clothing listen to Chris and have the time of your life. Just be quiet and relax.

Took a half day kayak tour through the mangrove swamps. Chris, our guide, was very personable and knowledgeable about the fauna, flora and history of the Everglades. Paddling through the quiet "tunnels" of mangrove was beautiful in the early morning sun, interrupted only by passing aligators. Everglades Rentals and Eco Adventures is a first class operation which I would highly recommend.

We booked the 3 hour kajak tour at the Ivy House B&B. Our Tour Guide, Patrick, gave us some general info on the Everglades and then we started. The kajaks are very easy to handle, even for someone who has never paddled before. The tour took us over the water and through tunnels in the mangroves. It was such a loverly experience, just gliding quietly over the water! We saw some birds, eventhough it was late in the season (end of May). There were few mosquitos on the water, but in the mangrove tunnels we needed our funny hats with the mosquito net that cover your head completely (can be bought, together with bug spray, at the Ivy House hotel). We didn't see any aligators close up, which we didn't really mind because we so many of them walking the boardwalks and at the visitors points. Patrick, our guide, was very knowledgeable and answered our many questons patiently. If you are visiting the Everglades, this is a "must do"!
