“Spectacular Experience”
We live in the Florida Keys and on the spur of the moment, wanted to "get off the rock." Our destination was Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary (Audubon) about 45 minutes from Everglades City. We figured Everglades City would be a great place to stay nearby our destination. I've been to Everglades City before, my wife had not been, and I wanted to make that part of the weekend adventure.

The choice of The Ivey House was a chance encounter while trying to find a place to stay, one night in advance and on Memorial Day weekend. The Ivey house had room and looked like a great find.

OK, to the point, it was a spectacular experience - from check-in to check out. All of those that we met associated with Ivey House, were warm, friendly, and inviting, as if into their home. The property and buildings have obvious historic character, however, everything is immaculately maintained and intelligently laid out. The pool setting is wonderful in an interior part of the facility. It is well protected from any "buggy offences." The Ghost Orchid Café offers a very nice breakfast in a very comfortable and relaxed setting.

“Lovely place & John's kayak tour was wonderful”
We stayed at the Ivey House for one night, and thoroughly enjoyed it. Breakfast is delicious, the pool is clean and beautiful, and the rooms are very comfortable. Furthermore, the kayak tours offered are exceptional. We did a morning tour through mangroves with John, and saw rookeries, alligators, and plant life. John is a naturalist and has a thorough knowledge of the ecosystems, and is also a very experienced guide. I heartily recommend both the Ivey House and its kayak tours to anyone regardless of age or experience level.

“Having Fun in the Everglades!”
What a way to spend a Birthday!. I am from Florida and had been to the Everglades before but never on a kayak trip (or two). The Ivey House is a friendly place to stay, very quite and perfect for a single woman. You can book various types of trips at the Ivey. For me, an evening trip for 4 hours to watch the full moon come up over the mangroves (thanks Guide Tom for loaning me your gloves for my hands were really cold). To the hotel and a hot shower. Up early to a great breakfast - included in the room price - and off for another 4 hours with Guide John. Lots of birds, mangrove tunnels, open water and more tunnels to paddle through. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. There are many great places to eat local food. Want to get away from it all and see nature as it really is? This could be the experience for you, it sure was for me.

“Best way to see the real Everglades”
Despite having visited the Everglades twice before we felt we saw it the right way this time. Taking an early morning canoe tour of the waterways with a guide from the Ivey house was a fabulous way to see the Everglades up close. We kayaked close to alligators (don't worry - they are more scared of us than we are of them !),through mangrove tunnels and along beautiful channels without seeing another soul. We had an "adventure package"which also gave us tickets to do the more standard things we had done before like airboat rides and visiting an alligator farm which our children really enjoyed. The property itself is clean, comfortable and well kept with friendly staff. Would definetely Reccomend a couple of nights there when visiting the Everglades.
Room Tip: Rooms by the pool seem the best.

“Basic, friendly, enthusiasm”
We only had one night here just before our fabulous kayak excursion in the Everglades (ask for Russell as your guide - he's fab). The staff is so friendly and helpful. Our room was clean and ready for us, exactly what we needed. They are wonderfully experienced with visitors from all over the world and made us feel at home. Can't recommend them enough.

“A Florida gem”
We came to Everglades, plannig to stay for a couple of nights, but founf thr town and especially the Ivey house to be so nice we stayed for four. The accommodations are basic in the lodge, but comfortable and the included breakfast was great. The staff here are VERY friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. When I come back here, this will be the place to stay. Wecame looking for birding and kayaking opportunities and the Ivey house staff were very well informed in these areas. They also have good information about the eating opportunities around town. Their box lunches were also good. Highly recommended!
